so it's been a while. partly cos nothing interesting has happened (well, nothing interesting which could be published in a public blog, anyway).

updates...

my work wants me to stay around a while longer. so much so that they have offered to train me up for a DELTA (which is the second in a series of relatively non-useful EFL certificates when it comes to making a proper salary and getting a proper gig at, say, a university. on the other hand, i would learn some useful things and my teaching would greatly improve.

in exchange for this $4,000+ certificate (offered, importantly, by my school, which means it's really not going to cost them too much after all) all i would have to do is sell, or lease, my soul to the EFL devil for two years. $4,000. i'd like to think that my soul is worth more than that, even for just a two year lease.

equally troubling is the idea that if i sign on to this deal, what would happen to my annual trip to sweden? our new boss is a bit of a hard-ass, and doesn't look too kindly on people taking off during so-called peak season. (as if we couldn't find some other sap willing to work for crap wages for a month or so).

yet that would offer some stability, and that's not all a bad thing. could start some of those hobbies i've been meaning to start. and perhaps start a relationship that lasts longer that 2 months.

yet...living abroad still beckons to me. it's addictive, really, living abroad. if nothing else every day brings a new adventure and/or interesting event. the most excitement i get here is riding muni.
